Since the 1970s, the Sound System has grown to become a world-wide culture, crossing all boundaries and appealing to people from every background. Sound systems operate in every continent on the planet, from the UK to Russia, Japan to the US and Jamaica to Cape Town.
In addition to the ever-growing number of passionate and dedicated reggae artists, DJs, musicians, promoters and of course public who have xworked to build a reggae scene in Australia, there are now a number of crews bringing the roots of sound system culture to the country and building their own speakers stacks, rigging their own equpiment and holding events in their regions.
